Bus Rapid Transit - Montgomery County System

Jurisdiction:
Maryland
Cost:
unknown
Project Description:

Montgomery County is studying a potential Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) system that would include 10 interconnected lines covering more than 80 miles throughout the county. The County's Planning Department in 2013 completed a Countywide Transit Corridors Functional Master Plan, which provided detailed recommendations on how to implement the BRT system.

Bus Rapid Transit is typically less expensive and faster to build than light rail, and can achieve similar levels of service.
