US 15 Interchange at Monocacy Boulevard

Jurisdiction:
Maryland
Cost:
$79 million
Year of Completion:
2016
Project Description:

A grade-separate interchange at US-15 and Monocacy Boulevard will replace the existing at-grade junction.  The new interchange will allow Monocacy Boulevard to cross over US 15 and create an east-west connection from Monocacy Boulevard to Christophers Crossing. The new interchange will include a bridge structure, ramps with acceleration and deceleration lanes along US 15, and signalized intersections at ramp locations, as well as bicycle lanes, sidewalks, and hiker/biker trails.

The project will provide a new access point for the Fort Detrick facility, which has grown in recent years due to changes resulting from the federally mandated Base Closure and Realignment (BRAC) program.

The Transportation Planning Board included this project in its Constrained Long-Range Plan (CLRP) in 2013.
